MEET
Michiyo Vaughan
ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATE
Michiyo is one of the most organized, diligent, detail-oriented, and hard-working people you'll ever meet. She grew up in Japan and built her own, successful consulting business there in her 20s and 30s. She was a regulatory-and-administrative-law consultant (gyōsei shoshi in Japanese). This job has no exact equivalent in the United States, but she helped her clients to obtain licenses and approvals from the Japanese government, which required specialist knowledge of laws, regulations, and bureaucratic processes.
Michiyo has over 16 years of bookkeeping experience, including 5 years in the United States. In addition to training and certifications in bookkeeping, she also holds a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Nihon Fukushi University and an Associates Degree (with honors) in Human Services from Tompkins-Cortland Community College in Cortland, NY.
In addition to her hometown of Kobe, Japan, Michiyo has lived in Ithaca, NY, and Singapore; and she has traveled throughout Asia and parts of Europe. She is now based in Virginia with her American husband and their canine daughter, Cleo, a Welsh Terrier.
